John Comeford

John David Comeford , 60, passed away peacefully while in hospice care on October 28, 2013, surrounded by family. Born in Everett, MA on December 8, 1952, raised in Wakefield, MA and most recently of Stoneham, MA, he was a lifelong resident of the area. David graduated Wakefield High School in 1970 and Bates College in 1974. For many years, he owned and operated his own business as a building contactor. David was the son of Doris Spear Comeford of Stoneham, MA and the late John C. Comeford . He was the loving father of Shane Comeford and Brett Comeford , both of Amesbury, MA. He is also survived by his sisters Diane Calore and her husband Peter of Vista, CA, and Nancy Brown and her husband Randy of Carlisle, MA, and their children. He is also survived by his former wife Shirley Stone of Amesbury, MA, who cared for him during the final months of his illness. David most enjoyed spending time with his sons, and teaching them a love of hockey and golf. He was also a wonderful companion for his mother, and enjoyed treating her with his cooking skills. David will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A funeral service will be held for David at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Saturday at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
