Jean Spencer

Jean Spencer, 82, of Wakefield, died on Thursday, May 20 at the Courtyard Nursing Care Center in Medford.

Born in Stroud, Oklahoma on August 21, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Glenmore and Bessie (Simpson) Childers.

Mrs. Spencer was educated in the Swampscott Public School System. She was employed by the Wausau Insurance Company. She began her career with Wausau as a claim correspondent and after 14 years she was transferred to their Claim/Legal Department retiring after 36 years of service as a paralegal. Mrs. Spencer had resided in Wakefield since October 10, 1947 when she married the late Frank P. "Flash" Spencer.

She was the mother of Frank P. Spencer and his wife Patricia of Wilmington, VT. Kathi Martin and her husband Bo and Priscilla Power and her husband Ian all of Wakefield, and Holly Ogden and her husband Wade of E. Providence, RI. She was the sister of Christina DeMaso and her husband Richard of Lynn and the late Gearaldine McGaughey and Laura Burney and sister-in-law of Elaine Spencer and her late husband Jake of FL. She was the grandmother of Victoria, Emma & Luke Martin, Madison & Christopher Power and Harrison Ogden. She was the cousin of Shirley Emerton of Saugus and Philip Litch of NH.

A funeral service will be held in the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St. Lynnfield on Monday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
