Ruthanne Haggerty, 61, of Stoneham and formerly of Huntington Beach, California died Sunday, January 1 at the home of her loving sister Connie.
She was the daughter of the late Claire Melkonian and Robert E. Haggerty Sr., as well as the late Harry Melkonian.
Ms. Haggerty worked for 45 years as a legal assistant, starting in 1968 at the Boston firm of Fanger and Burnbaum. Most recently she worked for 20 years at Robinson & Cole, also of Boston.
Ms. Haggerty lived for 15 years in southern California. During that time she enjoyed competing in ballroom dancing. She was an avid film aficionado and a voracious reader.
Ms. Haggerty is survived by her siblings Robert E. Haggerty Jr. and his wife Joan of Stoneham, Joanne Bernabei and her husband David of Concord, NH, Connie Spellman and her husband Brian of Stoneham and Paul Melkonian of Stoneham. She was the proud and loving aunt of Joe, Roxanne, Maureen, Eric, Elisha, and Kelsey. She was loved by many lifelong friends.
A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham on Thursday from 4-8pm. Her funeral service will be private.
