Theodore Roache, Jr.

Theodore L. (Ted) Roache, Jr. of Wakefield, died peacefully Sunday, August 22 with his loving family by his side at his home in the neighborhood he lived for 72 years.

His life was devoted to caring for his family and all those who crossed in his path. Known for his compassion and strength, he was loved by everyone who knew him. Ted will be remembered as a devoted husband, a dedicated father, and a wonderful loving grandfather. He graduated from Wakefield High in 1941. He was drafted to the army where he fought in some of the most difficult terrain in World War II era. He is also a recipient of the purple heart.

Upon returning from war, Ted became a dedicated employee of the U.S. Postal Service where he worked for 41 years. One of Ted's greatest joys for over 30 years was sharing stories with his brother and friends at the local coffee shop.

Ted is survived by his loving wife Madeline "Dolly", devoted daughters Marie Theodora Roache and her husband William McCarthy of Bedford, Stellanne Ames and her husband Paul Ames of Billerica, loving sister, Anne Theodora Gronberg and two cherished granddaughters: Alexia Madelene and Giavanna Theodora Ames. She is also survived by nieces, a nephew and godchild, Karen Schulte. Mr. Roache was preceded in death by his brother and best friend William Theodore Roache.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
