Alberta "Helen" Rich

Alberta "Helen" Rich, 88, of Stoneham, died Tuesday June 7 at the Winchester Nursing Center.

Born in Kulpmont, PA on September 20, 1922 she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Yelstnovich) Shimonis.

Helen was raised and educated in Pennsylvania and had worked on the family farm during her early years. She moved to New York for a short time before moving to Boston where she worked at a local shipyard and was waitressing when she met her future husband. She later worked for Marilyn Sandal Shoe in Stoneham as a stitcher. Helen was a member of St. Patrick Church for 25 years and she was a member of the Mothers Club. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and taking trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, but her family was her true passion.

Helen was the wife of the late George M. Rich. She was the mother of Janet D'Entremont and husband Ed of Stoneham and Marilyn Czajkowski of Auburn and her late husband John. Helen was the sister of Emma Fetterman of St. Petersburg, FL, Marci Kaselonis of Mount Carmel, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stephen E. D'Entremont of Stoneham, Amy R. Allen and her husband Eric of Chelmsford, and the late Katherine Mary Czajkowski, and her great-grandchildren Dean Cooper Allen and Lukas George Allen.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Saturday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 8pm. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
