Aleta Black

Aleta A. Black, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2021. She would have celebrated her 93rd birthday on Sunday, April 4th.
Aleta was born in Lincoln (Fredericton) New Brunswick, Canada to Leslie and Helen (Targett) Cail. She was also proud to be a Canadian and retain her Canadian citizenship her entire life.
Aleta was predeceased in passing by her husband Chester in 2010 and her son-in-law Joseph Proia in 2019.
Aleta is survived by her three children: Brian, Jane, and Keith, longtime friend Marc Richard and her extensive Canadian family. She was a constant joy and source of wisdom to her children and grandchildren. She was the proud grandmother to one granddaughter and five grandsons, who were always a huge part of her life and happiness. The addition of a great granddaughter made her extremely happy.
Aleta was a lifelong member of Eastern Star and held various leadership position in the Chapter. However, her main focus was always in the welfare and happiness of her rainbow girls, who affectionately called her "Mom Black." She was also involved with DeMolay as an advisor. She was active in her church, Lynnfield Community Church, where she was a Deacon and a member of the Board.
Her friendliness, humor, and sense of fairness was passed on to her children and grandchildren, which will be her continuous legacy.
A Graveside Service was held on Tuesday, April 6 at 11am at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield. Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
Please omit flowers, as Aleta had requested that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St. Boston, MA 02114.
A celebration of Aleta's life will be held later this year. Details will be provided.
