Alexander Macdonald, Jr.

Alexander J . "Alex" MacDonald , Jr ., 74, a Stoneham resident for over 50 years, died on Sunday, August 2 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Melrose on August 22, 1934 he was the son of the late Alexander J . and Lena (Sousa) MacDonald .

Mr. McDonald was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1953. He was a retired Semiconductor Operations Manager for the former Lasertron in Burlington and had also worked for the former Transitron in Wakefield.

Mr. McDonald was a member of St. Patrick Church in Stoneham.

He was the husband of Betty (Jordan) MacDonald . He was the father of Karen A. Izzett of Wakefield, Michael F. MacDonald and his wife Marisol of Windham, NH, Thomas J . MacDonald of Salisbury, Colleen M. Carpinella and her husband Michael of Stoneham, Timothy J . MacDonald and his wife Cheri of Wakefield, and the late Alexander J . MacDonald III. He was the brother of Ruth Duff of Dennis, Mary Cataneo and Eva Sweeney of FL and the late Dorothy Lovingood and Edward MacDonald . He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St. Stoneham Thursday at 9am, followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 4-8pm. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham.
