Alexander Macdonald Jr.

Alexander J. "Alex" MacDonald, Jr., 74, a Stoneham resident for over 50 years, died on Sunday, August 2 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Melrose on August 22, 1934 he was the son of the late Alexander J. and Lena (Sousa) MacDonald.

Mr. McDonald was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1953. He was a retired Semiconductor Operations Manager for the former Lasertron in Burlington and had also worked for the former Transitron in Wakefield.

Mr. McDonald was a member of St. Patrick Church in Stoneham.

He was the husband of Betty (Jordan) MacDonald. He was the father of Karen A. Izzett of Wakefield, Michael F. MacDonald and his wife Marisol of Windham, NH, Thomas J. MacDonald of Salisbury, Colleen M. Carpinella and her husband Michael of Stoneham, Timothy J. MacDonald and his wife Cheri of Wakefield, and the late Alexander J. MacDonald III. He was the brother of Ruth Duff of Dennis, Mary Cataneo and Eva Sweeney of FL and the late Dorothy Lovingood and Edward MacDonald. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St. Stoneham Thursday at 9am, followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday 4-8pm. Interment will be at Lindenwood Cemetery in Stoneham.
