Alfred G . "Fred" Evangelista , 92, a life long resident of Wakefield, died on Monday August 12 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston,

Born in Wakefield on July 10, 1921 he was the son of the late Sabbino and Matilda (Spagnola) Evangelista .

Mr. Evangelista served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Corporal for 36 consecutive months. For many years he was the owner and operator of " Fred's Barber Shop" on Foster St. in Wakefield. He had cut hair in Wakefield for four generations.

Mr. Evangelista was the husband of the late Lana C. (DeMarco) Evangelista . He was the father of Peggy Schleicher and her husband Bob of Tewksbury and Nancy Radville and her husband Richard of Reading. He was the brother of the late Louis, John, James and Ann Evangelista and Mary Castracane. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kate and Tim Radville; his step grandchildren, Karen Campbell and Jillian Schleicher; his great grandson Aidan and great step-grandchildren, Summer and Thomas.

A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 11 a.m. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home prior to the service starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
