, 91, a lifelong Wakefield resident died peacefully with his son Wayne at his side on Sunday, August 5 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Wakefield on June 22, 1921, he was the son of the late John and Carmella (Buonaiuto)
DiTonno
who both immigrated from Italy.
Mr.
DiTonno
was educated in the Wakefield Public Schools. He was a retired machinist for General Electric.
Alfred
was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield and Local 201 IUE-CWA AFL-CIO. Mr.
DiTonno
enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
He was the husband of the late Anna E. (Dolan)
DiTonno
. Mr.
DiTonno
is survived by his son Wayne M.
DiTonno
and his wife Denise of Wakefield, his sister Lena Tine of CA and his four grandchildren; Christopher, Eric, Sarah and Hannah
DiTonno
. He was predeceased by his two brothers; Frank and Rudolph
DiTonno
and his four sisters; Yola Amico, Mary Reed, Vienna Page, and Rose Dunphy.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
