Alice Melanson

Alice E. Melanson, 93, a long time Wakefield resident died on Friday, April 9 at the Sutton Hill Nursing Center in North Andover.

Born in Wakefield on February 17, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Emma (Meuse) Surrette.

Mrs. Melanson was raised and educated in Wakefield. She had worked for the Harvard Knitting Mills and the Paul K. Guillow Company in Wakefield.

Mrs. Melanson was the wife of the late Joseph W. Melanson. She is survived by her two daughters; Sandra Muise and her husband Carl of Derry, NH and Carol Dow and her husband Edward of Winter Haven, Florida. Mrs. Melanson is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son John W. Melanson, her four sisters; Doris DeSano, Edna Clay, Frances Morrell and Margaret Moore and her three brothers; Clarence Surrette, Leo Surrette and Joseph Surrette

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday in St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St, Wakefield at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St, Suite 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
