Alice Edwards

Alice E. Edwards, age 80, of Plymouth, formerly of Arlington, died Monday, May 7 at the Winchester Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada on December 18, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Bertha (Brown Gizas) MacKinnon.

Mrs. Edwards was raised in Canada and the United States. She graduated Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in 1959 as a Registered Nurse. She married in 1967 and raised her family in Arlington. She had an amazing talent for knitting and crochet; many times winning Blue Ribbons at fairs for her craft. She also donated items she knit, including both hats for premature infants and blankets for the elderly in nursing homes. Mrs. Edwards was a devout Catholic with an affinity for the Mother Mary. She was an active volunteer at St. Margaret's Church in Buzzard's Bay and served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Camillus Church in Arlington. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was the beloved wife of John L. "Jack" Edwards, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Patricia M. Sicard and her husband Andrew of Tyngsborough, John Edwards and his wife Cheryl of Tewksbury, Mary B. Marenghi and her husband Gregory of Lynnfield, Margaret A. Ruchala and her husband Stephen of Hubbardston, and Vincent M. Edwards and his wife Kimberli of Danville, NH. She was the sister of Karen Saindon of Maine and the late Martin and Daniel MacKinnon. She was the adoring grandmother of Daniel, Elizabeth, Matthew, Ryan, Gregory, Jack, Michael, Joseph, Alice, Caitlyn, Brianna, and Gavin. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7pm.
