Alice M. (Belliveau) Ellis, 86, of Peabody and formerly of Wakefield died Tuesday, June 25 in Peabody.
Alice was born in Lynn on May 12, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Alice (Savard) Belliveau.
Alice was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. She moved to Wakefield in 1963 and was a very active member of St. Joseph Church and was a Eucharistic minister and had worked in the rectory. She enjoyed taking trips with the church and took painting lessons later in life. She was a true example of God's glow that shines down on us all. During her married years, as a sports mom, Alice was affectionately committed to sharing attention, love, orange slices, and healing powers with her kids, grandkids, and their numerous teammates. In the Gould Street neighborhood, the smell of Alice's homemade chocolate chip cookies was always a target to be devoured. Her kind and humble smile, combined with her warm and welcoming personality added to the heart of the Moulton Playground, Gould Street, and Wakefield neighborhoods. And let's not forget that no Belliveau reunion or 4th of July Cookout was complete without Alice's presence.
Alice was a faithfully devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend to all. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard D. Ellis. She was the loving mother of David W. Ellis and wife Amy of Salem, Richard W. Ellis and wife Debbie of Wakefield, Donald J. Ellis and wife Cyndi of Highland Falls, NY, Diane E. Ellis and her partner Scott Matheson of Brunswick, MD and Daniel E. Ellis and wife Liz of Union KY. She was the sister of Jeannette Murphy, Mary Guptill, Bertha Cripps, Shirley Christman, Pattie Dever, Wilfred, James and Thomas Belliveau, Cathy Raymond and the late Rita DeVarennes and Cecilia Farrell. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Tyler, Michelle, Kim, Jessie, Mack and Drew and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 12 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
