Alice Leary , 96, formerly of Burlington, Ma died on Monday, February 9 at the Daniels Nursing Home in Reading.

She was born at her home in Medford in 1920 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Goucher.

After meeting the love of her life, Bob, in Dorchester, Alice moved to Florida and Franklin, Indiana to be with him as he was stationed in World War ll. Alice worked at Fanny Farmers and was also a cable worker for MIT before she became a fulltime housewife and mom, moving to Burlington, Mass in 1958 to raise their family. Alice enjoyed many family and friend gatherings in her backyard. They hosted many cookouts during the summer, and took trips to Lake Winnipesaukee to visit her late Aunt Evelyn and Sister Penny, which she looked forward to every summer. She loved her many car rides and dinner dates with the late Joe Leary and his wife Kay Leary , and the late Leo Leary and his wife Eleanor Leary , her daily phone calls with Gertie, and the tours of Cambridge and Somerville to revisit the good old days with her trusted and loved family friend, Judy Mustoe. She also adored the staff at Daniels Nursing Home in Reading where they always made her feel special and loved. These were special times that she held dear throughout her years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Leary , with whom she spent 63 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Barbara Leary Parker of Reading. She was the devoted grandmother of Jacquelyn Parker, Susan Tapley, Renee Hoyt and her husband Mike, Melissa Holmes and her husband Geoff, Nicole Tapley Bauman and her husband Jay, Donald Tapley and Stephen Rowe and his wife Shelia. She also leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was the sister of Penny Sostak of Burlington, the late William Goucher of Burlington and the late Frank Goucher of Billerica and the sister in law of Gertie Norkaistis of Hingham, Kay Leary of Quincy, Eleanor Leary of Quincy and Mary Goucher of Florida. She is also survived by her very good family friend and care taker Judy Mustoe and her family of Burlington, of whose support and love Alice was so grateful for.

A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Agnes Church, 186 Woburn St, Reading on Saturday at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Pine Haven Cemetery in Burlington.
