Allan Calderwood

Allan G . "Dukie" Calderwood was called home to Heaven on November 30, 2015 after a brief illness. Allen was born in Boston on June 27, 1943 to his beloved parents Allan and Catherine (Clark) Calderwood .

Despite being born developmentally disabled and against the odds, Allan lived a full and happy life to the ripe old age of 72. He loved a good meal, especially hamburgers and french fries, never missed a chance to tell everyone he was "The Boss," always enjoyed a good nap- no matter what time of the day and lived for Christmas and his Birthday and special surprises in his birthday cards. Allan's smile could light up a room and he brought so much love and happiness to his family.

He is survived by his loving and devoted sister, Diane Lynch and her husband Tom and his loving niece MaryElizabeth Lynch-Lent and her husband Jonathan. Allan was also an avid animal lover and leaves behind his fury friends that he lovingly called "Charlie" also known as Angel and Lexi.
Allan's family wishes to thank those who were instrumental in his care over the past twenty years, including his long time care giver, Beverly Manukyan and her family of Peabody and more recently Casey MacGilvary and the Vinfen family at his group home in Danvers. He was so blessed to have been loved and cared for by such extraordinary people. His family also wishes to thank Bridgewell, his day program and the dedicated workers there, as well as his social workers and case managers, and the doctors and nurses who helped him reach the wonderful age of 72. A very special thank you is extended to the Beverly Hospital and the doctors and nurses who comforted and cared for Allan and his family, in his final days.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 9:30-10:30am. A graveside service will follow at 11am at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
