Alma Schnurbush, 89, of East Wakefield, NH, formerly of Lynnfield, went home to be with Jesus on Dec. 26th after suffering a broken hip. Just 7 days shy of her 90th birthday, she was ready for Heaven.
Born in Dorchester on January 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late George and Leila (MacNayr) MacGregor.
Alma grew up on Lowell Street in Lynnfield, graduating from Wakefield High School in 1938. She lived her last 4 years with grandson Danny, wife Barbara and 3 great-granddaughters where she was very happy.
She was a wonderful piano and organ teacher and player. She could play anything if you just hummed the first few notes. Alma enjoyed many years of organ club and taught line dancing. Best known for her sense of humor, she was a great jokester and always the life of the party. Not a day went by that she didn't have fake teeth or big red lips in her purse, ready to make someone laugh. She loved going out to eat, family gatherings, parties, the Lovell Lake crowd, and Class of '38 gatherings.
Alma was predeceased by her husband Bernard and grandson George Bernard Caiazzo (wrestler, John Kronus). She is survived by her sister Jean Wenzel and husband, Roger of Wakefield, her daughter Linda Jean Owens of Seattle, WA, son Bernard and wife Diane of Middletown, CT, twin daughters, Dr. Jane Silcocks and husband, Don of Wakefield, NH and Julie Moran and husband, Dr. Peter Moran of Colebrook, NH. She leaves 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and special nephews Wayne Wenzel and Kenneth Wenzel, and Ken's children.
Visiting hours will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, MA on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 2:00-6:00 PM.
