Amelia Robbins

Amelia A . "Cookie" Robbins , 96, a life-long Wakefield resident died Wednesday, April 9th at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home in Peabody.

Born in Wakefield on August 12, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Nichole and Vincenza (Concessi) Benedetto.

Mrs. Robbins enjoyed life to the fullest. She enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and gardening. "Cookie", as she was known to her friends, was an artist, an avid photographer, a seamstress and had made braided rugs. She had been the keeper of the Benedetto family tree. She gave much of her time to volunteer at St. Florence church, where she was a member of the Ladies' Sodality, worked Bingo and had worshiped for many years. Mrs. Robbins was an instructor at the Nasella park playground in earlier times and had been an avid bowler, roller skater and square dancer thru her early 80's. She enjoyed visiting New England relatives and the opportunity to travel. She was a retired Assembler for Transitron Co. in Wakefield.

Mrs. Robbins was the wife of the late Stanley J. Robbins . She was the mother of George Robbins and his wife Janice and Jessie McLennon all of Wakefield. She was the sister of the late Sam and Amedeo Benedetto and Grace Taylor, Gina Ward and Suzie Vittozzi. She is survived by her 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Saturday April 12 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday prior to the mass from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
