Ann Stanton

Ann Stanton, age 81, of Lynnfield, formerly of Wakefield and Malden, died Monday, September 9 at her residence.

Born in Birmingham, England on March 25, 1938 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Violet Pickering.

Mrs. Stanton was raised in England before moving to the United States in the 1960's as part of a nursing program through Malden Hospital. She had worked as a nurse there for more than 25 years. During the 1980's, on nights and weekends, she attended Northeastern University and obtained her bachelor's degree in nursing. Following her time at Malden Hospital, she spent another 19 years at Winchester Hospital before finally retiring at the age of 75. Ann loved her work. She also loved to travel to Florida during the winters with her husband, they vacationed in Sanibel Island for twenty years. They also enjoyed going to England to visit family. Mrs. Stanton was an accomplished knitter, always crafting blankets for family and friends. She also enjoyed reading and watching Jeopardy.

She was the beloved wife of John J. Stanton. She was the loving mother of Stephen J. Stanton and his wife Allison of Medfield. She was the sister of Elizabeth McMorrill of Davenport, FL, Barry Pickering of Birmingham, England and the late Arthur, Dorothy, and Joyce. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Olivia and Sophia.

Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield.
