Anna M. Appolloni, age 97, formerly of Beverly, died after courageously battling a brief illness on Thursday, September 2, 2021.
Born in Salem, Massachusetts, she moved to Wakefield in 2003. She was the daughter of the late Felipe and Vincenza (Serafini) Perucci.
Anna was raised in Salem and moved to Beverly after marrying her husband, Dominick, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She embraced her homemaker duties remaining devoted to her husband and caring for her three children who were the center of her world. Anna was an outstanding cook and she loved preparing her Italian specialties for family and friends. These meals were particularly enjoyed during family gatherings that she hosted. Holiday family gatherings were among her favorite times. Anna was a deeply religious woman. Her strong beliefs and faith helped her to keep her positive outlook on life. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and crocheting. Many relatives and friends benefited from her talent, receiving beautiful baby afghans for their newborns. Her gentle ways and contagious smile warmed the hearts of many.
She was the loving wife of the late Dominick Appolloni. She was the devoted mother of Linda DellaMonaca and her husband, Enzo, of Lunenburg; Frank Appolloni and his companion, Patricia Ingraham, of Danvers; and Robert Appolloni of Wakefield. She was the cherished grandmother of Michael DellaMonaca and Lisa Norton and the proud great grandmother of Robbie and Kyla Norton and Gregory and Melissa DellaMonaca. Anna was predeceased by her brothers John, Jeano, Gus, Alfred, and Joseph Perucci. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Thursday, September 9 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday, September 8 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Brimbal Ave., Beverly.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Anna's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
