Anne E. (Collins) Ginivan, of Stoneham MA, passed away peacefully on February 26th at the age of ninety-six. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold (Pop) Ginivan and one of six children born to the late William and Nora (Higgins) Collins. Cherished mother of Paul Ginivan, his wife Susan of Woburn and Brian Ginivan of Hampton, NH and Wells, ME. Adored grandmother of Alisha Larson and her husband Sr. Chief Petty Officer Michael Larson of Groton, CT and Brittney Ginivan and her partner Nick Tuttle of Wilmington, MA. Adored great grammy to Sydney, Charlotte, Jack, Evie, Arlo and Ozzy. Anne was predeceased by her son Thomas and her five siblings, Rosemary Stima, Bob Collins, Gene Collins, John Collins and Brenda Tedesco. She is survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and their families.
Anne was born in Woburn, MA in 1928. She spent her early years living in the “flats” on Sturgis Street where she enjoyed many days swimming and skating at Horn Pond. She would often reminisce of the close connections she had with her neighbors and how everyone looked out for each other. She was a proud graduate with the class of 1946 from St. Charles High School in Woburn. Her best friends from high school often spent their summers in Hampton Beach, NH in a rooming house. It was during one of these summers she met her future husband Harold at a dance at the Casino Ballroom. After their marriage Anne and Pop purchased the Ginivan family residence on Governor Road in Stoneham, which later became well known by many on Thanksgiving Day morning. Anne was dedicated to raising her two boys by providing a stable, loving home. She worked for several years at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn and prior to that at Bear Hill Country Club in Stoneham. She also enjoyed volunteering her time during elections at Stoneham Town Hall.
Anne was known for her kindness, strength, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was always there for anyone that needed a helping hand or a comforting word. Her legacy of kindness will be remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Monday March 3 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan-Anderson Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham prior to the Mass from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Interment, St. Patrick Cemetery, Stoneham.
