Anthony Bajgot

Anthony M. Bajgot, age 87 ("Tony"), passed away peacefully at home with his wife and daughter by his side on November 3, 2022. Born in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Teofila and Michael Bajgot and was the youngest and last surviving child of eight children. Tony graduated from Rindge Technical School in Cambridge, then joined the Navy where he became a construction electrician and a member of Seabees Mobile Construction Battalion 12. He served in the Vietnam conflict, where he received many decorations including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and the Gallantry Cross. Before retiring, Tony worked for Cambridge Electric Company, as a self-employed master electrician and further served his country as a U.S. Navy recruiter.

As a young man, Tony was an accomplished body builder, winning numerous events, being awarded the 1956 Mr. Cambridge Y title for best physique and achieving first place in the Cambridge Y heavyweight weightlifting contest that same year. Later physical pursuits included bicycling, which he began in his fifties. He loved to ride here, there and everywhere, often pedaling for 50 miles or more to visit family and friends. Polka music, talk radio, watching an old western, and enjoying a great bowl of homemade kapusta were also some of his passions. He also loved to tell stories and crack jokes, but there was nothing he loved more, or was prouder of, than his family, who lovingly called him "Dziadzi," which means "Grandfather" in Polish.

Tony was the beloved husband of Marlene J. (Bialecki) Bajgot of Wakefield, to whom he was married for 64 years. Well known for their love of Polka dancing, they were natural dance partners and won numerous dance contests. It was evident to everyone that knew them that they deeply cared for one another. When one of them was in the hospital (or even both at times), their first priority was to visit, call, or "facetime" each other to make sure the other was okay. He also leaves his son Douglas Bajgot and his wife Judi, their daughter Molly and son Sam; his son Jeffrey Bajgot and his wife Bev of Bellingham, their son Joshua and his partner Amber Roberts, and their daughter Emily Schiller and her wife Lindsay and their children Casey and Cameron; his daughter Karyn Tirabassi of Westborough (formerly of Ashland), her former husband Rick, and daughters Mikayla, Alexa and Isabella; his grandson Keifer Heckman and his partner Kaitlin Phillips and great-granddaughter Kayleigh Mae Heckman, daughter of Keaton Heckman. He is pre-deceased by his daughter Denise Heckman-Bajgot and her son Keaton Heckman. He also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life service for family and friends will be held on Wednesday November 16 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Crystal Community Club at 77 Preston Street, Wakefield, MA. Burial with Military Honors will take place on Thursday November 17 at 11:30AM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA.

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Tony's name to the American Heart Association.

The family thanks everyone who has reached out and provided support during this difficult time. We love you Dziadzi.
