Anthony Benedetto

Anthony David was born on March 18, 1963 in Winchester, MA to Anthony R. and Rosella (Vittozzi) Benedetto. David grew up in Wakefield and was a 1981 graduate of Wakefield High School. While in high school, along with lifelong friend Walter Havey, David was an inaugural member of the committee which opened the first high school bank institution in the U.S.. One of his most prized accomplishments was graduating the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY in 1985 with a degree in Engineering. He would often reminisce on his time sailing the world touching six continents. David would always make it clear how much he valued the lessons learned on the high seas. Following his time at Kings Point, David attended the United States Naval War College in Newport, RI. After completing his stint at the war, college David successfully served his country as an officer in the U.S. Navy. David attained the rank of 05 Commander. David used his engineering skills to help the navy design the Seawolf submarine. Nevertheless, his best accomplishment while serving in the navy may have been meeting his future wife while serving in Milan, Italy. The two quickly fell in love and married on October 4th, 1995. David even briefly flirted with entrepreneurship starting his own business Benedetto Construction Management.

David was known for his contagious laugh, sensor of humor, bright smile, and twinkle in his eye. Being the fourth child out of five, those qualities helped David through his life as he never shied away from a bit of fun and mischief. David was a lifelong student; he never stopped learning. His intelligence was unmatched to those who knew him. David made a habit of checking his emails daily for the "Word of the Day" and always stayed abreast of current events and politics, some may even have called him a political activist. David always took great pride in that his uncle, John A. Volpe served the Commonwealth as the 61st and 63rd governor.

When David wasn't working he enjoyed spending time with his family and relaxing in the sun while his favorite tunes played in the background, and if the radio wasn't playing David probably was. David was an avid musician who could play almost anything you put in front of him and was never shy sharing his musical talents. David treasured his family and also his Italian heritage. Being the Italian he was, you could often find him cooking in the kitchen as well as enjoying a great Italian feast.

David was larger than life and his joy and laughter will forever remain in our hearts and minds.

He is survived by his beloved wife Tina, daughter Melissa Jean, son John David, and dog, a Bichon named Ginger, all of Wakefield, his two brothers, Robert A. Benedetto and his wife Catherine of Derry NH, George P. Benedetto of Manchester NH, his two sisters, Paula L. of Dunedin FL, and Susan J. of Tewksbury MA, his nephews, Steven B.
