Anthony Rose, Jr.

Anthony C. Rose, Jr., 86, of Wakefield, formerly of Reading and Cambridge, died on Tuesday, May 8 at his home.

Born in Cambridge on May 30, 1925 he was the son of the late Antonio Chaves and Maria (Andrade) Rose.

Mr. Rose was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School, Class of 1943 and Boston College where he earned his BS in 1950 and MBA in 1961. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Tony was a CPA who held top financial roles in several corporations, including Baird Atomic, Bose Corp. and Sterilite, prior to retiring from Lasertron in 1991. He was also an active member of the Cosmopolitan Square Dance Club in Wakefield for over 30 years. Having played guitar and mandolin since childhood, he started taking piano lessons in his seventies.

He was the husband of Beatrice Helen (Monteiro) Rose. He was the father of Deborah Amato and her husband Kenneth of Chelmsford, Michael Rose of Denmark, Pamela Rose of Wakefield and Jeannine Hardy of North Andover. He was the grandfather of Joseph Amato and his wife Kim, Eric and Camille Amato; Carabeth, Daniel, and Patrick Connolly; Adam, Amanda, and Ian Hardy. He also leaves several loving nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Laura Rose and brother Joseph Rose.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
