Anthony E. Urkiewicz

The Urkiewicz Family, along with their extended family, announce with deep sorrow the loss of their beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, “Papa”. A long-term resident of Lynnfield, MA, and most recently residing in Wakefield, MA at the Brightview Senior Living center, who passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Born at home on May 13, 1934, to Anthony and Josephine Urkiewicz of Bridgewater, MA and survived by his daughter, Ann M. Hinds (Andover, MA), his son, Mark E. Urkiewicz (Stoneham, MA), and is predeceased by his beloved late wife, Ann M. Urkiewicz (Lynnfield, MA), and son, Eddie A. Urkiewicz, Jr. (Beverly, MA). His legacy of love and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Anthony “Eddie” Urkiewicz was a pillar of strength and love for his family and community. His life was a testament to the values of hard work and dedication where he enjoyed a successful lifelong career in the medical industry. In the 1960’s, Eddie founded Cardiovascular Instruments (“CINCO”) of Wakefield, MA, where they manufactured and distributed heart and lung machines and medical instrumentation for both local and international hospitals. Most notably, A. E. Urkiewicz was the inventor of a patented apparatus for treating and oxygenating blood for cardiac surgery.

Eddie will be remembered for his wisdom, generosity, and the countless cherished memories he created with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, from “family night” dinners and vacations to spontaneous trips to the casinos (if you could keep up with him!). His family and the time he spent with them were his greatest joys and his proudest moments in this world. We will forever hold him in our hearts. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.

For those who wish to honor Eddie and pay their respects, a wake will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield, MA, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Heart Association at heart.org, a cause close to Anthony E. Urkiewicz’ s heart.

Rest in peace, Papa. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
