Araksie "Roxy" (Sarkisian) Yessaian, 102, of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, February 5th, at her home at Bayberry at Emerald Court.
Roxy was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on April 13, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Satenig (Bagdoian) Sarkisian.
Roxy was a graduate of Methuen High School. She worked as a factory worker at the Benson Shoe Company in Lynn, Massachusetts until her first grandchild was born. Thereafter, she joyously spent the rest of her life raising her four grandchildren and one of her great-grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally and more than anything. Roxy's biggest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was known to everyone as "Mezzie" and those who knew her were blessed to have her in their lives. Roxy loved to travel, enjoyed cooking Armenian delicacies for her family and friends, loved playing cards and board games, and doing puzzles. She was an extremely talented seamstress and loved being able to fix anything you brought her way.
Roxy was the wife of the late Avedis "Eddie" Yessaian. She is survived by her son, Harry Yessaian and his wife Eleanor of Wakefield, Massachusetts; her grandchildren: Julie McLean and her husband David of Dunbarton, New Hampshire, Edward Yessaian and his wife Kelly of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Lisa Whittemore and her husband William of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Amy Rotiroti and her husband James of Wakefield, Massachusetts; her great-grandchildren: Michael McLean, Xander and Zoe Yessaian; and two great-granddogs: Tuesday Lia Whittemore and Rocky McLean who brought great joy to her life. She was predeceased by two brothers, Leo Sarkisian and Vaha Sarkisian, and two sisters, Sara Esperian and Bertha Aaron.
Funeral Services will be held at the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church, 145 Brattle Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts on Friday, February 12th at 11:00 am followed by an interment at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence.
