Arlene Elizabeth Carpenter passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 30 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Arlene was born on July 13, 1926 in Everett, the youngest of nine children of the late Mary and Frederick Fowler. She grew up in Everett and Malden and attended parochial schools, graduating from Cheverus High School in Malden in 1944 and later from the Burdett Secretarial College.
She and David
Carpenter
married in August 1948 and they moved to Kansas while David completed his undergraduate degree at Kansas University.
Arlene
worked for RCA until they moved back to Massachusetts in 1952 and lived on Paon Circle, Wakefield for eight years until moving to Jordan Ave in 1960.
Arlene
and David joined St. Joseph Church in Wakefield in 1952 and for many years now, have been one of the longest married couples at St Joseph Church, 68 years!
Arlene was a wonderful, thoughtful, caring, generous mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She always thought of others first and loved most being with and caring for her family. She had a unique way of making all family and friends feel loved and special! She will be so dearly missed by family and friends.
Arlene was the beloved wife of David Carpenter . Loving mother of Diane Brown and her husband Jeromy of Derry, NH, Kathy Long and her husband, Jeremy of Wakefield, Michael and his wife Elizabeth Mansfield of Reading, Beth Luke and her husband Gerry of Sanbornville, NH and the late Kevin Carpenter of Wakefield. She was the loving grandmother of Kimberly Long of Wakefield, MA, Gwen Luke of Sanbornville, NH, Gretchen Luke of Wakefield, RI and adoring great grandmother of Noah Rouff and Madeleine O'Lalor. Arlene is also aunt of several loving nieces and nephews, and their children.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at 10 am at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield. Interment immediately after at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. There are no visiting hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arlene's favorite charity, the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, PO Box 302, Maryknoll, NY 10545-0302.
