Armita Volpe

Armita A . Volpe , 91, of Wakefield died Thursday Oct. 22. Born in Wakefield on June 19, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Sabatino and Esther (Gelsomini) Palmerino.

Mrs. Volpe was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School and Burdett College in Boston. She later worked as secretary for the Volpe Construction Company. Mrs. Volpe had been a member of the Salem Country Club and St. Florence Church. The joy of her life was her family. She loved cooking for her family and friends and also enjoyed needlepoint. In the last few years of her life she received particular comfort and care from her grandson Christopher.

Mrs. Volpe was the devoted and loving wife of 67 years to S. Peter Volpe . She was also the loving mother of Janet V. Livesey of Wakefield and her partner Ralph E. Grossi, Peter J. Volpe and his wife Linda of Andover. She was also the loving grandmother of Christopher M. Livesey & partner Diane Reynolds. Mark J. Livesey and wife Monica Bortolotto, Peter J. Volpe , Jr. & partner Erin Dennehey, Tyler J. Volpe & wife Patricia Peters and Travis J. Volpe . Also her great grandson Nicolas B. Livesey She is predeceased by her brother Fred Palmerino.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield, Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church. 47 Butler Ave. Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday 4-7pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
