Arthur J. Dischino, 90, of Lynnfield died Friday, August 26 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
Born in Somerville on March 3, 1926 he was the son of the late Salvatore and Concetta (Defraia) Dischino.
Mr. Dischino was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. At age seventeen he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served on the USS Franklin during WWII and earned five battle stars. He then went to work for New England Telephone where he worked for 40 years before retiring. Mr. Dischino was a longstanding member of the Wakefield-Lynnfield Elks Lodge.
He was the beloved husband of Mary L. (McDermott) Dischino of Lynnfield. He was the loving father of Ellen Marie Snow and her husband Stephen of Wakefield and Daniel Arthur Dischino and his wife Elizabeth of Malden. He was the grandfather of Alexander Snow and Daniel Dischino. He was the brother of Susan DiSimone of Lynnfield, Elena Macisaac of Milton, and the late Anna Cohan and Joseph, Christopher, and Louis Dischino. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, corner of Grove & Salem Sts., Lynnfield at 10am. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7pm.
