Barbara J. Gaffney, 52, of Wakefield died Thursday, February 11 at the New England Medical Center in Boston.

Born in Waltham on September 14, 1957 she was the daughter of James DiBacco of Medford and the late Theresa (Gandiosi) DiBacco.

Mrs. Gaffney had been a Wakefield resident for the past 27 years. She was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1975. Mrs. Gaffney had worked as a secretary for the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office.

In addition to her father, Mrs. Gaffney is survived by her husband Paul F. Gaffney, her daughter Jacqueline Ann Gaffney, her six sisters; Christine Razin and her husband Marvin of NC, Paula Cognata and her husband Sal, Marie Mason and her husband David, Susan Bradbury and her husband Walter all of Billerica, Nancy Hughes and her husband John of Tewksbury and Theresa Varney and her husband Michael of Everett. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Florence Church 47 Butler Ave, Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
