Barbara Mitchell

Barbara A. Mitchell, 82, of Wakefield formerly of Waltham died on Sunday, May 12 at the Elmhurst Nursing Center in Melrose.

Born in Waltham on December 19, 1930 she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary (Gorman) Mitchell.

Ms. Mitchell was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Waltham. She was a retired secretary for the Hewlett Packard Company. Mrs. Mitchell had been a Wakefield resident for the past 25 years.

She was the sister of the late Fred Mitchell, John Mitchell, Paul Mitchell and Doris McDonald. Ms. Mitchell was the loving aunt of James Mitchell and his wife Janice of Melrose, Janet Popowitz and her husband Paul of VA, Stephen McDonald of CA, Ann McDonald of Wakefield and John Mitchell of Framingham.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7pm. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
