Barbara A. Muise of Wakefield died on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at her home with her family at her side. She was 88 years old.
Barbara was born in Chelsea on March 12, 1935, and was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Bazylinski) Sheppard.
She grew up in Chelsea and was a proud graduate of Chelsea High School. Barbara married her husband Lester in 1958 and moved to Wakefield, where she would raise her family and spend the rest of her life. Barbara did clerical work for the insurance and retail industries. Barbara was an active member of Saint Joseph’s Church in Wakefield, where she had many friends. She served as a Eucharistic minister, administering communion at the church, Bear Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and Melrose Wakefield Hospital. Barbara also faithfully prayed the rosary nearly every evening at the church. Barbara’s favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting, and she created many cherished gifts for family and friends. Most importantly, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Lester Muise, with whom she shared 55 happy years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Gail Farrington and her husband Bruce of Wakefield and Robert Muise of Wakefield. Barbara was the grandmother of Kara Farrington of Reading and Kelli Farrington and her husband Michael Norris of Beverly. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Wednesday, March 29 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 30 at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
