Barbara Ann (Lynch) Warchol, of Winchester, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 20, at the age of 87. She died peacefully, surrounded by family, after a brave struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on March 29, 1935, Barbara was the only child of John J. and Margaret A. (Sullivan) Lynch.
Born and raised in Woburn, MA, Barbara graduated with the Woburn High School class of 1952, where she was active in cheerleading and numerous other activities. In 1958, Barbara married the late Richard J. ("Dick") Warchol, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. Together, Barbara and Dick raised six children in Wakefield, MA, where they were active members of St. Joseph Parish. Barbara enjoyed tennis, skiing, and golfing and was a longtime volunteer at Winchester Hospital. After Dick retired, he and Barbara split their time between Cape Cod and Naples, FL. In these years, nothing mattered more to Barbara than watching her grandchildren grow and flourish.
Barbara leaves behind her six children: Janice and her husband Patrick Glynn, of Charlestown, Paula, of Marblehead, John, of Wakefield, Joanne and her husband Scott Shaw, of Wakefield, Michael, also of Wakefield, and Daniel and his wife Amy (Schulte), of Newburyport. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Christopher, Kevin, and Elizabeth Glynn; Connor and Madison Shaw; Meghan and Caroline Warchol; and Alexa Warchol. Barbara was predeceased by her grandson Ryan Shaw.
Barbara's family will forever be grateful for the exceptional level of care provided by the staff at The Residence at Pearl Street in Reading and at Aberjona Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Winchester.
