, 92, of Wakefield died on Friday, January 4 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Malden on July 21, 1920 he was the son of the late Gaetano and Victoria F. (Troccoli)

Ben graduated from Wakefield High School in 1938 and served in the Army Air Force during the Occupation of Japan from 1944-1946. He worked for American Airlines at Logan Airport for 34 years. During his years at American he was a member of the bowling league, an activity he enjoyed into his retirement years. Ben was an avid golfer and accomplished two holes-in-one during his decades on the links. He loved boating and fishing and camping, and also grew vegetables in a large backyard garden. His craftsmanship went far beyond his capabilities at airport repair, and extended to the construction of the family home, furniture building, auto mechanics, and a wide variety of other mechanical and metal working skills. He played jazz guitar from his high school days until his later years, and enjoyed singing and playing popular songs from the 1940's and 1950's.
He was the beloved husband of the late Martha A. (Garbenis). He was the loving father of

of Merritt Island, FL. He was the brother of Virginia Kinzel, Gloria Morris, Arnold

and the late Louis, Joseph, Gaetano and Fortunata. He was the grandfather of Elizabeth Barry and James, Christine, Thomas, Lauren, Paul, Terese, Andrew, and Nicolas

His funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
