Benjamin J. Tropeano, 76, a life long Wakefield resident died on Friday, January 20 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Melrose on August 13, 1935 he was the son of the late Benjamin and Jeanette L. (Ruffo) Tropeano.
Mr. Tropeano was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1953 and Northeastern University. He had retired in 1998 as the owner of B.J. Tropeano and Sons Inc, of Wakefield. Mr. Tropeano was a life member of the Wakefield K of C. He had served in the Unites States Air Force 94th Troop Carrier Wing Division. An avid golfer and a member of the Ferncroft Country Club in Danvers and the International Country Club in Bolton, Mr. Tropeano held a 5 handicap and had 9 hole-in-ones.
He is survived by his wife Jean M. (Comeau) Tropeano, his three sons; Benjamin J. Tropeano Jr., and his wife Gayle of Lynn, Anthony P. Tropeano and his wife Erin of Lynnfield and Daniel R. Tropeano and his wife Kellie of Wakefield, his sister Mary J. Brosnahan and her companion "Desi" Desamone of Wakefield and his brother David J. Tropeano and his wife Susan of Stoneham. Mr. Tropeano is also survived by his 10 grandchildren.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Thursday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, corner of Salem and Groves Sts, Lynnfield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8pm.
