Betty Murphy

Betty A . Murphy , 91 of Lynnfield died Tuesday, December 22 at her home.

Born in Somerville on February 4, 1924 she was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Clarke) Murphy .

Ms. Murphy was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School, Class of 1941. She had been a Lynnfield resident since 1970. She had worked for the Boston Archdioceses in their accounting department for 11 years before her retirement in 1988. Prior to that job she was with the A&P Supermarket Corporation in their accounting department. Ms. Murphy also enjoyed shopping and traveling.

She was the sister of Robert J. Murphy of Lynnfield and the late Bernard P., John M., and Alice L. Murphy and Mildred M. Patterson. Betty is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, corner of Grove & Salem Sts., Lynnfield at 11am. Interment to follow at Willow Cemetery, Lynnfield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the mass from 9:30-10:30am.
