Blanche L. Twombly, 89, of Wakefield formerly of Medford, died on Thursday, November 17 at her residence.
Born in Medford on July 17, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Richard and Blanche G. (Kelly) Ford.
Mrs. Twombly was a Wakefield resident since 1952. She lived her life as a loving, caring, inclusive person who always made time to help others. Blanche was a founding member of the "Tuesday Nighters" who were dedicated to building strong neighborhood values. She was a graduate of Malden Hospital School of Nursing. She had a long career as a Registered Nurse caring for the residents at the Elmhurst Nursing Home in Melrose until her retirement at the age of 70. Blanche was also an active member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield.
She is survived by her husband Donald W. Twombly, her daughter Linda A. Campbell of Marlborough, MA, her three sons; David R. Twombly of Danville, New Hampshire, Wayne A. Twombly of Groton, MA and Paul W. Twombly of Marcellus, New York. Mrs. Twombly is also survived by her ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her three brothers; Richard Ford, Edward Ford and Francis Ford and her two sisters; Anna Wentworth and Rita Gould.
Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30am. Interment to follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-4pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Joseph School, 15 Gould Street, Wakefield, MA 01880.
