Bradford L. Frautten, 89, a life-long Wakefield resident passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Monday July 5.
Born in Wakefield on July 27, 1920, he was the son of the late Raymond and Alice (Meuse) Frautten.
Mr. Frautten was a graduate of Wakefield High School, class of 1938. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Bradford was a Pilot on the U.S.S. Manila Bay Aircraft Carrier, and served in the Naval Reserves before retiring in 1962 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He had also worked for the Wakefield Dept. of Public Works and had retired as Assistant Superintendent of the Water Dept. He enjoyed square dancing and was a masterful musician being able to play various instruments. Brad was a man of great faith and dearly loved by his children and all who knew him.
Mr. Frautten was the husband of the late Blanche (Masel). He was the father of Linda Gerlach of Yarmouth, ME, Mary Perry and her husband Stephen of Raymond, ME, Bradford Frautten, Jr. of North Reading, Jeanne Barry and her husband John of Madbury, NH, Elizabeth Harte of Dover, NH. and John Frautten and his wife Beverly of Wakefield. He is survived by his 9 Grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Bradford was the brother of Richard Frautten of Wakefield and the late Mike, Clarence, Bobby, Elmer and James Frautten.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield, on Sat. at 9 A.M. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. at 10 o'clock. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 – 8 P.M. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery.
