Bradford L. Yancey, age 77, a longtime Stoneham resident, transitioned into eternal life on March 14, 2024 at the Bear Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Brad was born in Stoneham, MA on April 2, 1946 and was the beloved son of the late Robert and Mary (Hepburn) Yancey.
He was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1964 where he was a standout football and basketball player. For the past 20 years Brad had been coaching semi-professional football teams throughout the New England area where he received numerous awards and accolades for his great work.
He was a former member of St. John’s Baptist Church of Woburn and Kingdom Hall in Nashua, NH.
Brad is survived by his wife, Darlene (Brown) Yancey; his children; Bradford L. Yancey Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Shalaen Yancey of Bowie, MD, Jamie Yancey and his wife Kayla Yancey of Tampa, FL, Elijah Jordan Yancey, and Tyler Morton; Maurice & Natasha Brown, his sister, Roberta Yancey of Hercules, CA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Carl Yancey.
Brad was a devoted father and dedicated coach. He will truly be missed.
Brad’s “Celebration of Life” will be held at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham on Friday, March 22 at 12pm. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21 from 5-7pm. Brad will be laid to rest at Lindenwood Cemetery, Stoneham.
