Carmela Tavano

Camela L. Tavano, 78, of Wakefield died on Tuesday, December 29 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Somerville on November 21, 1931, she was the daughter of the late John and Thersa (DiPeina) Percuoco.

Mrs. Tavano was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. She was retired from the Tarpey Insurance Agency in Wakefield.

Mrs. Tavano has been a Wakefield resident since 1960 and was a member of St. Florence parish She was also a member of the Saugus V.F.W. Ladies Auxilliary and enjoyed cooking.

Mrs. Tavano was the wife of the late Frank C. Tavano. She was the mother of Mark C. Tavano & wife Michele of No. Andover, Joseph Tavano of Wakefield, John J. Tavano & wife Corinna of Lynnfield and the late Frank Tavano. She was the sister of Anthony Percuoco of NH & Gervafio Percuoco of MD and the late Paul Percuoco, Anna Paone & Theresa Giuliano and grandmother of Christa, Carly, Serafina, John Anthony & Marianna. She is also survived by her life long friend Elena Iacoviello.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
