Carmelo J. Mocciaro a lifelong resident of Wakefield died Sunday March 10, at the Kindred Health Care of Peabody.
Born in Wakefield August 22, 1923 he was the son of the late Antonio and Elizabetha (Quoatocchi) Mocciaro.
Carmelo was a graduate of Wakefield High School Class of 1942. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He saw extensive action while serving in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown, CV10. Carmelo was the founder and current owner of Crystal Chemical and Packing Co. of Wakefield. He was also the owner of the former Crispac of Wakefield.
Carmelo is survived by his niece Koni Jaworski of Andover and his two nephews, Joseph Bonomo and wife Claire and Anthony Bonomo and wife Sylvia all of Wakefield. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, and grandnieces, and great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
Interment will be held at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
