Caroline Hannabury

Caroline Hannabury, age 87, of Burlington, formerly of Malden and Chelsea, died Sunday, March 26 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.

Born in Chelsea on February 23, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Chester and Mildred (Pszenny) Grabowski.

Mrs. Hannabury was raised in Chelsea and was a graduate of Chelsea High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, George Hannabury. They married and moved to Malden where they would raise their family in a home shared with her parents. Mrs. Hannabury cherished her role as a stay-at-home mother which allowed her to wear many hats including: Cub Scout Den Mother, Little League supporter, and longtime volunteer at Malden Catholic High School. She was an avid Red Sox fan and also loved playing Bingo and slot machines, but above all, enjoyed her family and cherished time with her grandsons.

She was the beloved wife of the late George S. Hannabury. She was the loving mother of Stephen Hannabury and his wife Kathryn of Dedham, Michael Hannabury and his wife Heidi Langendoen of Wakefield, and John Hannabury and his wife Kerry of Reading. She was the adoring grandmother of Christian, Cameron, Brendan, and Liam. She was the sister of Joan Gestwicki of Augusta, ME and the late Robert and Walter Grabowski.

Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9:30am followed by a funeral mass in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St, Reading at 10:30am. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
