Carolyn Furey
Beloved mother, Carolyn Conant Furey, 89, formerly of Lynnfield died on Friday, September 13th at the Overlook Masonic Nursing Home in Charlton, MA.
Born in Glens Falls, NY on June 30, 1924 she was the eldest daughter of the late Leonard and Irene (Wheeler) Conant.
Mrs. Furey graduated from Winthrop High School, Class of 1942, where she was active in the First Church of Winthrop, formerly the United Methodist Church. She had been a Lynnfield resident from 1955 to 2001 where she was a member of the Eight O'clock Wheel and a Sunday School Teacher. Additionally she was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a volunteer for years at the Election Polls. She was a retired bookkeeper, most recently with Cummings Properties in Woburn. Previously, she worked for the railroad, IBM, Lakewood Caterers, Executive Airlines, the Town of Lynnfield, as well as for several construction contractors. Upon retirement one of her great pleasures was collecting and hand-crafting her own dolls.
Mrs. Furey was the wife of the late Woodrow F. Furey. She is survived by her two sons; Steven Furey and his wife Judith of Lynnfield and Eric Furey and his wife Susan of Londonderry, NH and her older brother, Roger Conant of Naples, FL. Mrs. Furey is also survived by her four grandchildren; Roger, John, Cameron, and Elizabeth. She was predeceased by her brother Leonard Conant and her two sisters; Evelyn Paro and Dorothy Schramm.
Mrs. Furey had a tremendous passion for life and was dearly loved by all. Her warm and sunny personality could not help but put a smile on one's face. She will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at the Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St., Lynnfield on Saturday, September 21 at 11am. Mrs. Furey will be laid to rest at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Watertown, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to one of the following organizations in memory of Carolyn C. Furey: Masonic Health System, Attn: MHS Foundation, P.O. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
