Charles Barter, 93, of Revere formerly of Winchester, died on Friday, May 1 at the Don Orione Nursing Home in East Boston.
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on January 23, 1922, he was the son of the late Albert and Annie (May) Barter.
Mr. Barter had been a resident of Revere for the past 17 years. He was a retired mail clerk for the U.S Postal Service in Boston. Mr. Barter served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his daughter Vera Barter and her husband Peter of Lynnfield, his four grandchildren and his two great grandchildren. Mr. Barter was predeceased by his three sisters; Irene Ochs, Pearl Roussos and Frances LaCava.
A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8pm. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington D.C. 20090-6929.
