Charles Colachico

Charles A. "Chuck" Colachico, 96, of Wakefield died on Thursday, June 6 at the New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Woburn.

Born in Woburn on October 10, 1916, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Carmella (Corsetti) Colachico.

Mr. Colachico was a graduate of Woburn High School, class of 1935. He was employed for 42 years as machinist at Monsanto in Everett. After he retired, his passion for machinist work continued with the start-up of his own business, RC Machine, which he operated for the next 33 years. Nothing gave him more pleasure than his ability and talent to retool an obsolete part, re-engineer a work around solution to a puzzling technical problem, or get a production line up and running. When his health forced him to cutback at age 95, Chuck found further applications for his creative talents as he began a third career making and painting decorative birdhouses. His birdhouses are proudly displayed from Maine to South Carolina, Delaware to Denver, California, and internationally, in Ventimiglia, Italy. In addition to his family, Chuck was devoted to his home and garden.

Mr. Colachico was the beloved husband of Margaret L. (Harvey) Colachico to whom he was married for more than 67 years. He was the devoted father of Jeanne M. Colachico of North Andover, Ronald C. Colachico of Wakefield and Robert E. Colachico and his companion Sarah Barlow of Wilmington. He was the brother of Arthur Colachico of Norton and the late Mary, Albert and Raymond Colachico. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St. in Reading on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield prior to the mass starting at 10am.
