Charles Edmund "Chuck" Cook, Jr. of Wakefield, died January 20 at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Born in Neptune, NJ on November 8, 1956 he was the son of the late Charles Edmund Cook and Shirley Elizabeth (Barkalow) Brown.
Chuck was born and raised in Farmingdale, NJ before moving to Ashville, NC where he finished his schooling. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Georgia Tech and went on to spend the first half of his career as an engineer before returning to school. Chuck received his Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology and spent the remainder of his career as a data analyst in health care and radiology.
He enjoyed traveling all over the United States and Europe with his wife, as well as enjoying sailing, photography, birds, Italian cars and history. Chuck also had a passion for weather and music. He had been the guitarist in a number of local bands. He was an avid sports fan and loved baseball; rooting for the Boston Red Sox, where he enjoyed being a season ticket holder for many years, as well as the Atlanta Braves. Above all, he cherished his entire family and the time spent together.
He was the beloved husband of Karen Patras. He was the loving brother of Scott Brown and his wife Dena of SC, Kenneth Cook and his wife Trudy of NC, Michael Cook and his wife Iris of SC, Doug Cook of SC, John Cook of SC, Will Brown and his wife Lisa of FL, Rebekah Osman and her husband Scott of SC, and the late Ronald Cook and Karen Kirkley. He was the brother-in-law of Charles Patras and his wife Claire of Haverhill. He was the uncle of Jamie, George, Charles (Godson), Carson, Ashley, Asher, Stephen, Jeff, Laura, Katelyn, Carrie, Sydney, Blake, Zoe, Madison, Mackenzie, Billy and Bella. He is also survived by his step-father, William G. Brown of SC and his parents-in-law, Charles and Demetra Patras of Medford.
His Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11am. Interment, Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7pm.
