Charles E. Kelly, 89, of Saugus and formerly of Stoneham died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, September 5 in Melrose. He was born in Stoneham on May 3, 1927 and was the son of the late Martin and Mary (Lannan) Kelly.
Mr. Kelly was raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of Stoneham High School. He later served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and the United States Marine Corps as an Air Traffic Controller. He went on to work for the General Tire Corporation and later as a Real Estate Agent for the Century 21 Gianelli Associates Real Estate Office of Malden. He enjoyed watching his beloved Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots, working in his garden and reading many newspapers each day which he did for more than 60 years. He also had quite a sweet tooth and enjoyed spending time with his pet cat "Sligo."
Mr. Kelly was the beloved husband of the late Constance (Record) Kelly. He was the loving father of Patricia A. Milley of Saugus and the devoted grandfather of Donnelle Milley of Melrose. He is also survived by many other family members and friends. He is predeceased by his brothers: John, Joseph and Martin Kelly and his sisters: Winifred Frazier and Elizabeth and Margaret Kelly.
His Funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Friday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10:00. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home Thursday 4-8pm.
