Charles Longmuir of Wakefield, formerly of Malden, passed away peacefully at Blaire House in Tewksbury on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
Charlie was born on March 16, 1927, son of the late William Longmuir and Margaret (Inglis) Longmuir in Malden where he spent his childhood. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in Germany at the end of WWII. Charlie worked at A.C. Sweezey Lumber Co. in Malden, Moynihan Lumber in North Reading and the Town of Wakefield for the Housing Authority. Charlie loved woodworking and always had his wooden ruler, hand saw and hammer in the trunk of his car just in case he needed it.
Charlie attended the First Baptist Church of Wakefield.
Charlie was predeceased by his first wife Hazel (Buchanan - 1974) and his brothers Walter Longmuir and William Longmuir, sisters Margaret Kenney and Jean Wilcox.
Charlie is survived by his wife Alice (Trites), nephews William Longmuir, Steven Longmuir, Scott Longmuir, Robert Wilcox, Douglas Wilcox, Daryl Trites, Gary Taylor, Don Taylor and Doug Taylor, nieces Beverly Longmuir, Diane Drake, Debbie Jewers, Lorraine Pouilot, Barbara Gauvin, Peggy Cabral, Nancy Serino and Ellen Foster.
His funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, 8 Lafayette St., Wakefield at 11:00am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held prior to the service beginning at 10am. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield.
