Charles Rice

Charles Francis "Bud" Rice, 87, of Fremont, NH, formerly of Wakefield, died on Sunday, January 27 at the Exeter Hospital in Exeter, NH.

Born in Melrose on August 31, 1925 he was the son of the late Charles Francis and Catherine (Coffey) Rice.

Mr. Rice was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1943, and a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the Wakefield Municipal Light Department.

Mr. Rice was the beloved husband of the late Gladys E. (Edmands) Rice with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Kathleen Schmidgall & her husband Jack of Byfield, Charles F. Rice, Jr. of Raymond, NH, Patricia Robertie of Brentwood, NH, Michael J. Rice & his wife Deborah of Norco, CA and Sharon J. Pierce of E. Wakefield, NH. He was the brother of Marion Orne of FL and the late Mary Alice Needham Callahan and Catherine C. Curley. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 11 o'clock. Interment will be private.
