Charles R. Schille, Jr., 87, of Melrose and Vero Beach, Florida formerly of Wakefield died on Saturday, April 27 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on May 28, 1925, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Vera (Zielinski) Schille.
Mr. Schille was a graduate of Malden High School and had attended Northeastern University and MIT College. He was a retired draftsman for the Lechmere Company. Mr. Schille had served in the United States Navy during World War II with the rank of Quarter Master. He was a member of the Malden Moose, American Legion and VFW both in Vero Beach, Florida. Mr. Schille enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife Rita E. (Costa) Schille,, his son Paul Schille and his wife Debra of Melrose, his daughter Wendy Reilly and her husband Frank of Melrose, his two brothers; William Schille of Texas and Ronald Schille and his wife Nancy of North Reading. Mr. Schille is also survived by his 4 grandchildren; Eric and Ryan Schille, Meghan and Christopher Reilly. He was predeceased by his grandson Matthew Schille.
A funeral service will be held in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 7pm. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home prior to the service starting at 4pm.
