Cheryl Ann Hurley

Cheryl Ann Hurley, age 66 of Wakefield, passed away on Friday, March 7 at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Melrose on September 30, 1958 and was the daughter of the late Richard and Claire (Cassidy) Stevens.

She was the beloved wife of James Hurley of Wakefield for 46 years. She was the loving mother of James Hurley Jr. of Wakefield, and John Hurley and his wife Sarah of Wakefield, and the late Shauna Hurley. She was the sister of Mary Ellen Kelloway and her husband Lenny of Lynn, Linda Makarewicz and her late husband Kenny of Wakefield, Richie Stevens of Wakefield, Kathy Garofano and her husband Kevin of Exeter, NH, and Carolyn Tucker and her husband Marty of Middleton. Cheryl was also the cherished grandmother of Jack, Jameson, Aaron, and Lily. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Cheryl was a devoted wife and mother whose greatest joy came from spending time with loved ones and hosting holiday gatherings. A devout Catholic, her faith guided her life and inspired her selflessness, as she always opened her home to those in need, providing a safe haven for friends and family during challenging times. She cherished motorcycle rides with her husband and enjoyed cozy evenings watching Hallmark Channel movies together. Cheryl looked forward to her annual girls' weekend with her sisters on Plum Island, where laughter and bonding flourished. She loved skiing at Ragged Mountain, often retreating to her mother’s house for cozy family moments. As a school room mother, she took pride in nurturing the next generation, and her enthusiasm shone brightly during the Wakefield 4th of July parades. Cheryl's adventurous spirit was also evident in her love for camping trips along the scenic Kangamangus River and attending country music concerts, where she felt the magic of live music. Above all, she treasured quality time with her grandkids, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever. Her legacy of joy, love, and connection will always be remembered.
